Celebrity endorsement pricing

Celebrity endorsement cost in India

A celebrity endorsement in India runs from about ₹10 lakh for a character or supporting actor to ₹10 crore and above for the biggest names, and where you land inside that is decided less by who you cast than by what you ask for. Term length, how many media you need and whether you want the category locked against competitors move the number far more than an extra shoot day does. A brand that scopes those three honestly at the brief usually pays materially less than one that adds them after signing.

Celebrity endorsement fee bands

Indicative ranges for a standard endorsement engagement, updated October 2026. Figures move with term, media and exclusivity — treat them as a planning range, not a quote.

Character & supporting actors

₹10 – 25 lakh

Widely recognised faces from film and television without a leading-man profile. Strong recall, modest fee.

Best for: Regional campaigns, first celebrity deals, categories where familiarity matters more than glamour.

Established names

₹25 – 50 lakh

Well-known actors, comedians and character leads with long, stable public records.

Best for: Finance, health and education, where a dependable reputation is the asset being borrowed.

Leading names

₹50 lakh – ₹1 crore

Recognised leads and senior names with national reach across languages.

Best for: National campaigns needing credibility at scale without A-list budgets.

A-list

₹1 – 4 crore

Major film stars and leading cricketers with mass recall across every market in India.

Best for: Category leaders, large launches, campaigns carried by television as well as digital.

Top tier

₹4 – 10 crore+

The handful of names recognised in effectively every household in the country.

Best for: Brands where the association itself is the news, and multi-year ambassadorships.

What moves the number

Why two brands pay different amounts for the same name

In rough order of how much each one shifts the total.

Usage rights

Largest single variable

What you may run, where, and for how long. Moving a campaign from digital-only to television and print is typically a bigger step than adding shoot days — and it is the clause most often scoped loosely and paid for twice.

Category exclusivity

Can add 30–50%

Asking someone to decline every competitor for the term means asking them to turn down income, and it is priced accordingly. Decide whether you need the whole category locked or only your three real rivals.

Term length

Significant

A one-campaign deal and a two-year ambassadorship are different products. Longer terms cost more in absolute terms but usually less per month of association.

Shoot days and deliverables

Moderate

A standard day is eight hours with the celebrity's entourage. A second day costs less than most brands assume; what costs more is pulling someone off a film schedule.

Timing

Moderate

Festive windows and awards season compress availability. The same name can cost more in October than in June simply because three other brands want the same fortnight.

Own-channel posting

Priced separately

Appearing in your film and posting about it from their own handle are two different permissions. Agree it at the brief; adding it later is a renegotiation.

The fee

What is and is not included

Included in what we quote

  • The celebrity's fee for the agreed term
  • Agreed shoot days, usually eight hours each
  • Studio setup, crew and equipment
  • The celebrity's entourage — stylists, hair and makeup, managers
  • Usage rights for the media named in the contract
  • Contracting, negotiation and rights documentation

Costs on top

  • Media spend — the fee buys the face, not the airtime
  • Travel and hospitality for shoots outside the base city
  • Additional media added after signing
  • Renewal once the usage window closes
  • Posts from the celebrity's own handles, unless negotiated
Spending less

Four ways to pay less for the same result

01

Scope the media honestly at the brief

The most expensive thing a brand does is buy digital rights, find the campaign working, then add television. Buying both up front costs a fraction of adding one later.

02

Narrow the exclusivity

Full-category exclusivity is the most commonly over-bought clause on the list. Naming three competitors instead of a whole sector routinely cuts the premium.

03

Cast regional rather than national

A face with genuine standing in the language and market you actually sell in will usually outperform a national star the buyer feels no closer to, at a fraction of the fee.

04

Avoid the festive crush

If the campaign does not have to run in the festive window, shooting outside it buys both a better rate and a less compressed calendar.

Celebrity endorsement pricing questions

How much does a celebrity endorsement cost in India?

Roughly ₹10 lakh at the entry end to ₹10 crore and above for the biggest names, as of October 2026. Where you land is driven mostly by usage rights, exclusivity and term rather than by the shoot itself. We give an indicative range against a real brief in about 48 hours rather than publishing a rate card, because a number that ignores your media and term is not information.

Why do two brands pay different amounts for the same celebrity?

Because they are buying different things. One may have digital rights for six months with no exclusivity; the other may have television, print and packaging for two years with the category locked. Same face, very different product — which is why comparing headline fees between brands tells you almost nothing.

Is a cheaper celebrity worse value?

Often the opposite. Finance, health and education reward faces read as dependable over faces read as aspirational, and a mid-tier name with the right reputation routinely outperforms a bigger one. The expensive mistake is buying the largest available name when the category rewarded a better-matched smaller one.

Does the fee include making the advertisement?

Our quotes include the shoot — studio, crew, equipment and the celebrity's entourage — and the rights documentation. They do not include media spend. The fee buys the face and the licence to use it; buying the airtime and placement is separate.
